For the past 33 years, Science Heritage Ltd has sponsored the annual NSH J.B. McCormick, MD Award. This award is presented to a NSH member in recognition of outstanding and exceptional service to the National Society for Histotechnology. The award consists of a functioning and exact replica of the W. Roberston of Edinburgh, c. 1750, Compound Screw-Barrel Microscope, and a boxed, eight-volume Science Heritage Library Collection set concerning the history of the microscope and histotechnology. Selection of the recipient for this award is made by the Awards Committee in consultation with Dr. McCormick. Depending on the quality and quantity of nominees, the Awards Committee may or not confer this award on an annual basis.
